Back on March 14, 2009, I posted some information about filing a fictitious name application (or d/b/a) in the State of Florida. The State Statutes require, as of July 1, 2009, that anyone wishing to register a new fictitious name must also publish his or her intent to use that name at least once in a local newspaper.
This does not mean that folks with existing fictitious names must publish in the paper. Only NEW applications have a publishing requirement.
